I had a few problems setting up an inbound call routing system for Elastix. What i was trying to do was setup 4 companies on the same system and direct certain ports on the Digium Card to direct to certain extensions. So, if you ran number 1 on port 1 it would go to extension 1 and so forth.
There is little on the net to explain where the fix is especially with the new dadhi changes in Digium cards. The solution is quiet simple actually. In previous Trixbox and other installations you would change the zapata.conf file to have context=from-zaptel in the channel settings. But in the new dadhi setup this needs to now be placed in the /etc/asterisk/dahdi-channels.conf file under channels or it wont work. It needs to read from-zaptel and not from-pstn as per the standard file setup.
It should work for Trixbox and other solutions as well.

Multiple Databases for Rails
I had to write a solution for a legacy database to join a current database. In essence I had 3 databases to work with, and needed the app to move between them easily and without errors. After much research and endless solutions that didn't work I finally configured this solution to work consistently.
In the config/database.yml add the relevant database:
newdb:
adapter: mysql
encoding: utf8
reconnect: false
database: thedatabasename
pool: 10
username: myuser
password: mypass
host: hostaddress
port: 3306
socket: /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.
In the model(not the controller) add the following to EVERY model and controller that connects to that database:
establish_connection :newdb
Then you can add the other set items you require to the model (not the controller):
set_table_name "thetablename" ##if you want a singular table name and not plural
set_primary_key "theprimkey" ##if the primary key like in legacy databases is not id or something
Now, the trick to making this work with several databases is that in all the models that connect to the development database you add:
establish_connection :development ##or production
You get "cant find the database" and other errors if you move from controller/page to controller/page without this in each controller. Its actually the biggest key to the puzzle.
If you follow this simple procedure you should succeed.

Linux copy facility
Sometimes I see guys struggling with copying in Linux. I thought I would add the options I use to help.
To copy a file use:
cp oldfilename newfilename
To rename a file you can use:
mv oldfilename newfilename
To copy a folder use:
cp -r oldfoldername newfoldername
There are other options, use cp --help to find out what they are.
To remove a file you use:
rm filename
to remove a folder:
rm -r foldername
The remote server copy of folder to folder can be done via an scp or rsync command:
scp -r foldername username@destinationiporaddress:/home/username
The home/username can be changed to suite, but its preferably a writeable directory.

Automated Creation of a new app on a Mongrel Cluster
This is a script to automatically get a mongrel app up and running. It should be placed in the rails directory – i.e. /var/www/ and then run using ./filename.rb (if you name the file filename.rb). it will ask a series of questions to get an app created with the mongrel cluster file linked and installed and running. To get it running do the following:
vi filename.rb ##or whatever you want to name it
Paste all the stuff below
:wq ##to close the file
chmod +x filename.rb ##permissions
./filename.rb ##run the file
There a few uncommented options for user, etc which you could use if you really want to. Basically they approot, user and apache and can be uncommented at the top of the file and everytime you run the file it will ask for these details as well.

Automatically install a Full Ruby on Rails Mongrel Server
I have created the install files for a Simple Easy to get running Linux Ruby on Rails Server. Once you have installed your server using the openssh server option (or type 'apt-get install ssh openssh-server -y' at the command line), login to the server remotely. Then all you do is copy the code below to a notepad(or it breaks some of the -- links) file then do the following:

Installing a complete Ruby on Rails Server on Ubuntu
I have installed a few Rails servers using Ruby, Rails, apache, mongrel, etc. I got to a point that I got tired of following a file to do and having to monitor it. I tried passenger_stack and had problems with capistrano so eventually when I couldn't find the help I needed, I created my own fresh ubuntu linux 9.04 and newer(I think 8.04. will work as well if you really have to), based install file that automated the whole process. In order to get this running you will obviously need your install cd and preferably some knowledge of ruby, etc. Also, read the file as it requests you to get some file links for the latest stuff from relevant sites.
I usually right click on the download link and copy the link location and then change it in the script where its applicable. But, check the script if you not sure.
I hope this helps someone as its made my life a little simpler and its works for me 100%. There is also an added file which I drop into rails directory (/var/www/) and then edit the few options. When I run the file using ./filename.rb(whatever I named it.rb) it asks me the relevant questions, creates the application and the mongrel required files and sets it all up for me. Once I have edited the database and create the first controller for hobo or rails, it gives me the required screens. Then you ready to create your app without all the "copy to here" links, etc to get an app running. It also create the apache file, etc as it should be.

When I run the file using ./filename.rb(whatever I named it.rb) it asks me the relevant questions, creates the application and the mongrel required files and sets it all up for me. Once I have edited the database and create the first controller for hobo or rails, it gives me the required screens. Then you ready to create your app without all the "copy to here" links, etc to get an app running. It also create the apache file, etc as it should be.
I offer NO WARRANTY and you should check the file before you run this in case it breaks something. you use it at your own accord.
